Spring 2023 Newsletter

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

Hi all,

Exciting times for those who loves riding 2 wheels – that’s us 😊

The Spring & Summer programme has been finalised which promises to provide exciting fast, fun, and competitive races for all in every grade.

View the calendar here Calendar

We encourage everyone to view the programme, to not only see where the races are, but foremost check when it is your turn for marshalling or assisting the race management teams.

This is a crucial part for us holding these events, and your support is much appreciated.

If you are unable to assist with your race management duty, it is your duty in the first instinct to tap a friend on the shoulder to swap duties or arrange someone else. Thanks!

Oct 1st is officially the start of our club year, and Spring season.

With it also brings another tap on the shoulder – SUBS 😊

The committee has decided to keep the full membership subs at the super low price of $50.00, with race fees $5.00. Other rates are applicable for Juniors, and casual members.

The easiest way for payment is to follow this link - https://www.tasmanwheelers.co.nz/join

Payment can also be made at club races when registering.

It’s also a busy time of year for kit purchases.

We now order kit twice a year! Now and in early 2024 for those attending National events, so if you require bibs, tops, jackets, warmers etc, please get your order in. Please note we do have minimum order numbers. Your committee contact is dan.waluszewski@gmail.com for all kit.

Best to email him, as you probably won’t catch him on race day 😊

Events: - our Club Open Day is fast approaching- Sat 21st October at the Hope School.

Please bring along a friend – it was a great day last year, with sponsors, supporters, bbq, beers, etc.

We are also managing the Tasman Secondary Schools time trial and road race on the same day and seeking to attract more youth to our awesome sport. This is an ongoing challenge, but we are committed to find the next Niamh, Shaane, Finn, George, Jack through regular conversations with the schools, working with the trackies, and new ideas such as helping the Iron Dukes the other month with their cycling badge.

Talking Sponsors.

We are very lucky to have a great group of sponsors.

Please support them where you can and promote them to friends and family.

These sponsors in no particular order are ;-

NBS

GJ Gardner Homes

Sprig & Fern

Village Cycles

Brent Sturm @ Tall Poppy Real Estate

If you have any questions, contact us via email race@tasmanwheelers.co.nz

We value your input and any comments with regards any information or issues.

Talking input, we’ve received positive and negative input with the Winter calendar.

The gravel rides seemed popular and fun (maybe too tough?), club races well rec’d, and a couple of comments members wanted more racing, no rest day? Winter series next year?

Have your say, it’s your club.

Look forward to seeing you at a club race or the Open Day.

Regards,

Peter Ogilvie – TW President
