Social bunch rides are a great way to meet new people and fast track your fitness levels. 

If you are unsure whether you are ready to race or just want to experience riding with

others in a bunch, join in with the group rides below to upskill your bunch riding


The SMBR (Saturday Morning Bunch Ride)

Mostly meets outside HQ Cafe, Brightwater.

7 different circuits

Ride starts at 9:00 am in summer (10:00 am in winter)

Average distance is 50km. Followed by coffee afterwards at HQ Cafe

Village Cycles Ride

Meets outside Village Cycles in Queen St, Richmond

Ride starts at 9.30 am Thursdays

Distance 45 to 50 kms at average speed around 28 kph

Some faster members do extra distance.

Finish at Oxford Cafe for coffee around 11:30am

Wednesday Bunch Ride

Meets outside Village Cycles in Queen St, Richmond every Wednesday.

Meet at 3:20pm with riders. Leaves at 3.30pm with finishing at Sprig n Fern

Richmond for a beer around 6:10pm.

4 different circuits with distance of approx. 65km.

Average speed of these rides 28kmphr to 30kmphr.

Friday Bunch Ride

Graeme Snadden’s Group meets outside Raglan Roast Coffee Bar, Tahunanui.

Friday mornings at 10:00am

Usually ride 40km over Mt Heslington. Can vary week to week.

Average approx. 26/28 kph

Finish back at Raglan Roast for coffee.

Christine's Group Ride

Meets Paton Road by Richmond Cemetery

Sunday morning 9:00am (winter 9:30am)

Riders alternate choosing where to bike

Usually 50 - 60 kms or so. Café stops near ride end at varying places.
