NELSON SCHOOLS’ CRITERIUM CYCLING SERIES

Get ready to roll! The Nelson Schools Criterium Cycling Series is back by popular demand! This cycling event is designed to get kids of all ages and abilities active and excited about cycling. From balance bike beginners to teenage racers, this series offers safe, age-group racing in a fun and supportive environment.

 

Whether you're new to the sport or already chasing podiums, the series is all about building skills, confidence, and a love for life on two wheels. With a strong focus on participation, sportsmanship, and community, the Schools Criterium Series is the perfect way to get more young riders involved, inspired, and pedalling toward a healthy, active future.

 

CRITERIUM SERIES DETAILS:

Term 1 - Friday 13th, 20th & 27th March 2026 Location- 17 Boxman Place, Annesbrook

Competitors must have shoes, gloves and a well-fitting helmet, and may bring any bike

4:15pm Sign-on and warmup opens. Race numbers to be displayed on handlebars.

4:30pm RACE 1 - Under 5 mixed boys and girls, 2 laps - Approx 1km

4.45pm RACE 2 - 5–6 years - 10min
(same start for boys and girls, but separate events)

5:00pm RACE 3 - 7-10 years - 10min
(same start for boys and girls but separate events)

5:40pm RACE 4 - Senior (novice and elite) riders- 11–18 years - 15min
(same start for novice and elite grades, boys and girls, but separate events)

All race numbers to be returned after completion of each race in exchange for a prize

 

PRIZEGIVING

Podium ceremony after each race (weekly performance prizes for 1st 2nd 3rd)
