APL NZ Grand Prix Grassroots racing

he Grassroots Trust Velodrome here in Cambridge is hosting our first Class 2 UCI event, to be held in the second weekend of December.

We see this as a great event for all riders in the U19/U23/Open categories. Not just to gain vital UCI points if needed, but also to bring riders together from around Oceania and the World to a relaxed, fun environment with good hard racing. A great racing experience and a great way to rack up those points. We will kick off the racing on the evening of the 6th and 7th of December with the Velobike carnival. This is an open event which will be a great lead into the C2. Saturday and Sunday the 9-10th of December is the APL New Zealand Grand Prix CL2. With international riders already signed up, 4 current World Champions and our very own Cycling NZ riders racing, this is going to be an exciting few days. We've scheduled the two-race events in a way that they can be incorporated into a training camp, so to take advantage of the quiet training roads we have around here, as well as time on the velodrome. What better way to get race experience riding against some of New Zealand's and Oceania's top riders. Put this in your training schedule as a great pre-Christmas hit out that gives enough time to sharpen up before Oceania Champs and NZ Champs here in February and March. If you're not racing, come and support, cheer on and soak up the atmosphere that is track racing. Riders just have to be 18 years or older as of December and hold a National licence.
